parallax23: (not the hammer)

Ugh.  I need to focus!  As of late, to kick my writer's block out of the way, I decided to get some reading done.  Of course, now I'm juggling more than just my fanfic which is already 4 stories -- After Life, Between the Lines, XYZ Affair,Wake Me Up... I've been thinking about a few other original stories.  I don't want to give away too much about the plots until I actually write them.  ("New" stories are ones that I've written this past year, "Old" stories are anything written before this year.)

1) Ayslum Riot (New) -- it's the story of six bloggers who bite off more than they can chew

2) Prufrock's Revenge (New) -- a boy, a girl, two bands and ton of drama

3) The Anaxarete Cycle (Old) -- the story of how a girl goes from innocent to assassin (I've been working on this story since about 11th grade)

4) The Destroyers Trilogy (Old) -- what happens when a group of friends return for senior year and nothing is the same? (it's weird, but I actually can't remember how long I've been working on this story, because the very first sketch was written among stuff in my 9th grade scrapbook and every year I return to revise it before I even make it to chapter ten; it's the same characters and basically the same plot but the motivations change along with the subplots)

5) Aerie Trilogy (Old) -- it's hard for me to really "date" this story because the lead character and her powers over the element of air have been used in several other stories that I've been writing since I started, but this incarnation is quite a bit more recent

6) Confessions of a Fairy Godmother (New) -- this was supposed to be my NaNoWriMo entry, but I soon realized that I couldn't write it on my laptop and that I needed to develop the other subplots more; it was also my first attempt at happily ever after...

7) Guardians of the Underworld (Old) -- when an agent loses his memory and his best friend on an assignment he can't remember, can his new partner help him uncover the truth or is she part of the conspiracy? (this story never really got past him waking up and trying to figure out what happened, but it constantly comes back to haunt me at random intervals)

8) Melanie & Amina Rule the World (Old) --  it's a semi-autobiographical story about how my best friend and I dealt with crushes in the past; this story always gives me a problem because I can't choose between whether to make it first person or third person narration and I have a heavy use of technology (AIM, Facebook, cell phones, text messaging, LJ, etc) which is a bit odd to write in so many different mediums; this one only pops in on occasion (also sometimes known as Devi & Amina...)

9) The Mock Turtle Society (New) - the time tested cliche of the guy who returns home after a bad break up, only to find nothing is the way he left it

In total, that would mean about 12 stories are rattling around in my head during a given week, which is wearing me out and making me unable to sit down and actually write.

It's easy to write one-shots on my laptop but  for a long story I need to focus, and if I have my laptop I get distracted with wanting to check on my email, googling the random thoughts that pop into my head, browsing Friends' updates, new chapters of stories I'm monitoring, looking for new songs to add to playlists, reading my old story reviews to remind myself that I need to get writing done, then there are IMs from my friends...  Well, you get the picture.

Anyway, I need to narrow down my thoughts or I'll get nothing done!
